WP5 will deliver open source bioinformatics toolbox for federated pooled data analysis making data reusable
Objectives:
- To explore the pressing analytic needs of EUCAN-Connect and map these to available methods and tools internationally to create a Bioinformatics Toolbox specifically for the project focusing on federated cohort analysis and privacy protected approaches to the analysis of either federated or centrally warehoused data.
- Where necessary, to tailor the information to provide help, support, and SOPs for each of the tools in the bioinformatics toolbox to the specific needs of EUCAN-Connect and, where a given solution is open source, the code itself may be subject to limited customisation.
- To undertake an extensive program of combined development of DataSHIELD, Opal, and MOLGENIS to tailor requirements for federated analysis and privacy-protection precisely to the analytic needs of EUCAN-Connect before adding them to the toolbox. This objective will address a range of data classes including the high throughput omics data and lifestyle/environmental data fundamental to the scientific program in WP6.
- To create and implement mechanisms that provide help, advice, support and training in relation to data analysis using the toolbox, to data generators and data users in EUCAN-Connect, thereby enabling and facilitating progress of the science programs led by WP6.
Deliverables: WP5 will deliver the bioinformatics toolbox to promote reuse of cohort data in federated and/or privacy protected analysis of cohort studies and biobanks, including training material for datashield users, community provided analysis tools, training and support.
